“The Screen in Kyoto was an excellent choice for my introduction to this beautiful city. Kyoto is mazing and is a mix of tradition and modernity, so is The Screen. At arrivel the staff was welcoming and professional, everything was done in a very polite and smooth way. The trendy staff is very helpful and showed us around the hotel and our room, which was fantantic. I had asked for a very Japanese room and that was what I got: tatami floors, lacquered tables and lovely cakes and green tea everyday in my bedroom. Again the food at breakfest was delicious and the service attentive. The place is beautiful but what made it for me was the service: friendly, polite, attentive, helpful and above all with a very cool sense of humour!”

“Just about everything. We only had one night there, unfortunately, so did not get a chance to explore the neighbourhood much but there were shops and good restaurants. The hotel itself is very modern so if you are looking for a traditional / old world experience, this might not be the place for you.The room was big and extremely well appointed. The bathroom (with jacuzzi) was superb. The service was excellent. The breakfast (which is extra and not cheap) was the best we had in Japan, and well worth the money. I really loved this place and wish we had stayed longer, and I normally do not like modern hotels as much as traditional ones.”

“We loved the The Screen and would definitely stay there again. It was incredibly stylish and well appointed... there were so many nice touches in the room that made everything extremely comfortable. From the bathroom Ren toiletries to the coffee machine to the trouser press, soft towels, Bose sound system...there were thoughtful touches everywhere. The hotel is great value for the rate that we were charged. We were very impressed by the service throughout the hotel especially at Reception. In particular one of the Front Desk Managers who we found out had only been working there a few days was very attentive in answering all our travel questions.”

“Everything! We stayed here as part of our honeymoon and instantly fell in love with it. It's in a quite neighbourhood but only a 10 minute walk from the main street! The staff were super friendly and helpful, the rooms were top notch and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The rooms were also very cheap considering the quality of the hotel, and especially cheap for Japan.Would definately recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Kyoto!”

“I liked the location of the hotel and completely appreciated what they are trying to do. a stylish, boutique hotel that is completely different from anything else Kyoto has to offer. Thats why I wanted to stay there. It feels modern and fresh in a city steeped in history. The location was great, and the the staff couldn't have tried harder to make our experience better. The hotel feels very small and personal which I like.”
