“Design, Intimacy, the carafe of port in the room and the "honour" system in the bar. More hotels should follow their example”

“Magic location for a wonderful hotel. The staff was prompt and kind. Good breakfast, may be little expansive if you know that in Lisbon you can eat a dinner with the same price, but it is a trifle, cause you can choose to have your breakfast in a "pasteleria". Unfotunately the English isn't my language, so I have no many words to describe our stay in this hotel. I can tell you we were six adults and for all of us was an unforgettable experience. Higtly reccomended.”

“Solar Do Castelo is a secluded place... it could be anywhere really and does not have a particular Lisbon-touch or feel to it. I liked that, the fact that the city is outside the hotel gates, not within. It adds to the fact that the hotel does not have a tourist-atmosphere, but truly one in the vein of "home away from home". I also very much appreciated the courtesy bar, a feature one can find pretty often in Southern Africa for instance, but which i have never had in European hotels.”

“The hotel was a cross between being at home and in a hotel, which was great. An honesty bar, and breakfast laid out until 11 in the morning to help yourself. Very relaxing. Unfortunately there were very few guests, which made the hotel a little too quiet. However, I would recommend it as a secret little hide away!”

“E' la seconda volta che vado al Solar Do Castelo e devo confermare che è un ottimo hotel. Questa volta ho anche espresso una preferenza, la stanza con balcone, e sono stata prontamente accontentata. Il personale della reception è sollecito e preparato. Hanno prenotato, per me e mio marito, sia i ristoranti, consigliandoci anche, che i taxi. Più che soddisfatta.”

“This was a beautiful, small hotel in an amazing and historical area in Lisbon - with peacocks roaming around in the courtyard! The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere calm and quiet. I would definitely stay again.”

“The Hotel is elegant yet understated, hidden in a quiet corner just behind one of the most impressive spots in Lisbon, the castle. It is very quiet, you barely see other guests; for example it has a 'sincerity bar', a well-stocked, self-service bar in a beautiful space where guests can pick a wine, mix a cocktail and simply sign for it - not even a bartender (unless you don't ask for one).”

“The 'wow' factor really arrived when I stepped through the doors of the hotel. A wonderful atmosphere. I can certainly recommend the walk down a little street and through the castle premises to a restaurant with a breathtaking view of Lisbon. Solar do Castelo was a lovely hideaway, and makes business trips a pleasure.”
